Best Job Seeker Tops

They all say about the same thing in one way or the other, it really depends on whether one is looking for a job in the same field, or has an established career or whether one is looking for a new career or to make a transition. Then Walls suggestion for that, "What Color is Your Parachute" is excellent.

Getting a job is a fulltime job. You have to keep thorough records of each resume sent out, when and to whom, the same for phone calls made, and what was the response, you have to do this every day and make follow ups as told to do. Sign up with recruiters, and choose three that you resonate with. Network, go to seminars in your field, trade shows, and the like. Check out the websites of companies your would like to work for and see what type of opening they have, and only respond to positions you are qualified for. No one is going to respond to a resume from left field. It just doesn't work like that.

So that's what all the books are going to tell you, but most importantly, make sure you have a damn good resume and tailor it to each and every position you apply to.

  1. Determination to choose a particular field out of personal interest is must. One should not take decisions under any kind of force.
